Men With Weak Upper Bodies Tend to Be Liberal - Physically Strong Men Tend to

Men who are physically strong are more likely to take a right wing political
stance, while weaker men are inclined to support the welfare state, according
to a new study.

Researchers discovered political motivations may have evolutionary links to
physical strength.

Men's upper-body strength predicts their political opinions on economic
redistribution, according to the research.

The principal investigators - psychological scientists Michael Bang Petersen,
of Aarhus University in Denmark, and Daniel Sznycer, of the University of
California in the U.S., believe that the link may reflect psychological traits
that evolved in response to our early ancestral environments and continue to
influence behavior today.

Professor Petersen said: 'While many think of politics as a modern phenomenon,
it has - in a sense - always been with our species.'

In the days of our early ancestors, decisions about the distribution of
resources were not made in courthouses or legislative offices, but through
shows of strength.

With this in mind, Professor Petersen and Professor Sznycer hypothesized that
upper-body strength - a proxy for the ability to physically defend or acquire
resources - would predict men's opinions about the redistribution of wealth.

Bernie Sanders Briefed By US Officials That Russia Is Attempting To Help His
Campaign

WASHINGTON - U.S. officials have reportedly told Sen. Bernie Sanders that
Russia is attempting to help his presidential campaign, a revelation that
follows U.S. intelligence officials briefing Capitol Hill that the Kremlin may
also be attempting to help President Donald Trump in 2020 as they did in 2016.

Sanders in a statement disavowed any alleged assistance from Russia President
Vladimir Putin.

"I don't care, frankly, who Putin wants to be president. My message to Putin is
clear: stay out of American elections, and as president I will make sure that
you do."

The warning about the Russia effort to help Sanders, which was first reported
by The Washington Post, was also information given to Trump and lawmakers on
Capitol Hill.

'Screaming red siren': Trump's replacement of spy chief after Russia briefing
stirs outcry

Sanders acknowledged he was briefed "about a month ago" about Russia's efforts,
telling reporters Friday that he was "told Russia and other countries" were
interfering in the elections.

"It was not clear what role they were going to play," he explained. "We were
told that Russia and maybe other countries were going to get involved in this
campaign."

When asked why this news was just coming out after he was briefed a month ago,
Sanders said, "I'll let you guess, one day before the Nevada caucus. Why do you
think it came out? It was the Washington Post? Good friends," he said with a
wink.

his campaign, says he was briefed about it "a month ago." #MTPDaily

@BernieSanders: "What I say to Mr. Putin, If elected president, trust me, you
will not be interfering in American elections."

Trump made mention of the Russia effort at a rally in Las Vegas Friday, casting
doubt on the findings of his intelligence community that Russia was indeed
working to help his campaign by saying it was just a Democratic-led effort to
hurt him. He also mentioned Sanders specifically.

"I was told that was happening, I was told a week ago. They said, you know,
they're trying to start a rumor. It's disinformation. That's the only thing
they're good at, they're not good at anything else, they get nothing done. Do-
nothing Democrats," Trump said.

He continued: "That Putin wants to make sure I get elected, listen to this.
Doesn't he want to see who the Democrat is going to be? Wouldn't he rather
have, let's say, Bernie? Wouldn't he rather have Bernie, who honeymooned in
Moscow?"
'Propaganda to sow division'

In his statement, Sanders also pointed to some of the controversial comments
made by some of his die-hard online fans who have been linked to inflammatory
comments on social media.

"In 2016, Russia used internet propaganda to sow division in our country, and
my understanding is that they are doing it again in 2020," Sanders said in the
statement. "Some of the ugly stuff on the internet attributed to our campaign
may well not be coming from real supporters."

Sanders was criticized last week after some of his supporters reportedly
threatened members of Nevada's Culinary Workers Union for criticizing the
senator's' Medicare for All plan.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., said that Sanders "has a lot of questions to
answer" about the attacks on union leaders while former Vice President Joe
Biden said the Vermont senator and current frontrunner in the nomination
contest has to take accountability for the "misogynistic" attacks.

When asked about the issue at a CNN town hall Monday, Sanders said he is
"totally against online bullying and harassment."

"I will condemn absolutely anybody, including my campaign or any other
campaign, that makes vicious personal attacks against people," he said. "I
don't tolerate ugly attacks against anybody."

In 2016, Russia waged an elaborate and sophisticated operation to sow division
in the U.S. and upend the presidential election by using cyberattacks and
social media as weapons.

The interference led to a nearly two-year investigation led by Special Counsel
Robert Mueller, who concluded that Trump's campaign welcomed, even praised, the
assistance from Russia. But while he said investigators did not gather
sufficient evidence to prove a conspiracy, "problematic is an understatement"
to describe some of Trump's conduct.

Since then, intelligence officials have repeatedly warned that the country
would likely try to do the same in the 2020 election.

The Plundering of Ukraine By Corrupt American Democrats

By Israel Shamir - Top Dems are involved in the plundering of the Ukraine: new
names, mind-boggling accounts. The mysterious 'whistleblower' whose report had
unleashed the impeachment is named in the exclusive interview given to the Unz
Review by a prominent Ukrainian politician, an ex-Member of Parliament of four
terms, a candidate for Ukraine's presidency, Oleg Tsarev.

Mr Tsarev, a tall, agile and graceful man, a good speaker and a prolific
writer, had been a leading and popular Ukrainian politician before the 2014
putsch; he stayed in the Ukraine after President Yanukovych's flight; ran for
the Presidency against Mr Poroshenko, and eventually had to go to exile due to
multiple threats to his life. During the failed attempt to secede, he was
elected the speaker of the Parliament of Novorossia (South-Eastern Ukraine). I
spoke to him in Crimea, where he lives in the pleasant seaside town of Yalta.
Tsarev still has many supporters in the Ukraine, and is a leader of the
opposition to the Kiev regime.

Oleg, you followed Biden story from its very inception. Biden is not the only
Dem politician involved in the Ukrainian corruption schemes, is he?

Indeed, John Kerry, the Secretary of State in Obama's administration, was his
partner-in-crime. But Joe Biden was number one. During the Obama presidency,
Biden was the US proconsul for Ukraine, and he was involved in many corruption
schemes. He authorised transfer of three billion dollars of the US taxpayers'
money to the post-coup government of the Ukraine; the money was stolen, and
Biden took a big share of the spoils.

It is a story of ripping the US taxpayer and the Ukrainian customer off for the
benefit of a few corruptioners, American and Ukrainian. And it is a story of
Kiev regime and its dependence on the US and IMF. The Ukraine has a few midsize
deposits of natural gas, sufficient for domestic household consumption. The
cost of its production was quite low; and the Ukrainians got used to pay
pennies for their gas. Actually, it was so cheap to produce that the Ukraine
could provide all its households with free gas for heating and cooking, just
like Libya did. Despite low consumer price, the gas companies (like Burisma)
had very high profits and very little expenditure.

After the 2014 coup, IMF demanded to raise the price of gas for the domestic
consumer to European levels, and the new president Petro Poroshenko obliged
them. The prices went sky-high. The Ukrainians were forced to pay many times
more for their cooking and heating; and huge profits went to coffers of the gas
companies. Instead of raising taxes or lowering prices, President Poroshenko
demanded the gas companies to pay him or subsidise his projects. He said that
he arranged the price hike; it means he should be considered a partner.

Burisma Gas company had to pay extortion money to the president Poroshenko.
Eventually its founder and owner Mr Nicolai Zlochevsky decided to invite some
important Westerners into the company's board of directors hoping it would
moderate Poroshenko's appetites. He had brought in Biden's son Hunter, John
Kerry, Polish ex-President Kwasniewski; but it didn't help him.

Poroshenko became furious that the fattened calf may escape him, and asked the
Attorney General Shokin to investigate Burisma trusting some irregularities
would emerge. AG Shokin immediately discovered that Burisma had paid these
'stars' between 50 and 150 thousand dollar per month each just for being on the
list of directors. This is illegal by the Ukrainian tax code; it can't be
recognised as legitimate expenditure.

At that time Biden the father entered the fray. He called Poroshenko and gave
him six hours to close the case against his son. Otherwise, one billion dollars
of the US taxpayers' funds won't pass to the Ukrainian corruptioners.
Zlochevsky, the Burisma owner, paid Biden well for this conversation: he
received between three and ten million dollars, according to different sources.

AG Shokin said he can't close the case within six hours; Poroshenko sacked him
and installed Mr Lutsenko in his stead. Lutsenko was willing to dismiss the
case of Burisma, but he also could not do it in a day, or even in a week.
Biden, as we know, could not keep his trap shut: by talking about the pressure
he put on Poroshenko, he incriminated himself. Meanwhile Mr Shokin gave
evidence that Biden put pressure on Poroshenko to fire him, and now it was
confirmed. The evidence was given to the US lawyers in connection with another
case, Firtash case.

What is Firtash Case?

The Democrats wanted to get another Ukrainian oligarch, Mr Firtash, to the US
and make him to confess that he illegally supported Trump's campaign for the
sake of Russia. Firtash had been arrested in Vienna, Austria; there he fought
extradition to the US. His lawyers claimed it is purely political case, and
they used Mr Shokin's deposition to substantiate their claim. For this reason,
the evidence supplied by Shokin is not easily reversible, even if Shokin were
willing, and he is not. He also stated under oath that the Democrats
pressurised him to help and extradite Firtash to the US, though he had no
standing in this purely American issue. It seems that Mrs Clinton believes that
Firtash's funds helped Trump to win elections, an extremely unlikely thing
[says Mr Tsarev].

Talking about Burisma and Biden; what is this billion dollars of aid that Biden
could give or withhold?

It is USAID money, the main channel of the US aid for "support of democracy".
First billion dollars of USAID came to the Ukraine in 2014. This was authorised
by Joe Biden, while for Ukraine, the papers were signed by Mr Turchinov, the
"acting President". The Ukrainian constitution does not know of such a
position, and Turchinov, "the acting President" had no right to sign neither a
legal nor financial document. Thus, all the documents that were signed by him,
in fact, had no legal force. However, Biden countersigned the papers signed by
Turchynov and allocated money for Ukraine. And the money was stolen - by the
Democrats and their Ukrainian counterparts.

Two years ago, (that is already under President Trump) the United States began
to investigate the allocation of 3 billion dollars; it was allocated in 2014,
in 2015, in 2016; one billion dollars per year. The investigation showed that
the documents were falsified, the money was transferred to Ukraine, and stolen.
The investigators tracked each payment, discovered where the money went, where
it was spent and how it was stolen.

As a result, in October 2018, the U.S. Department of Justice opened a criminal
case for "Abuse of power and embezzlement of American taxpayers' money". Among
the accused there are two consecutive Finance Ministers of the Ukraine, Mrs
Natalie Ann Jaresko who served 2014-2016 and Mr Alexander Daniluk who served
2016-2018, and three US banks. The investigation caused the USAID to cease
issuing grants since August 2019. As Trump said, now the US does not give away
money and does not impose democracy.

The money was allocated with the flagrant violation of American law. There was
no risk assessment, no audit reports. Normally the USAID, when allocating cash,
always prepares a substantial package of documents. But the billions were given
to Ukraine completely without documents. The criminal case on the embezzlement
of USAID funds had been signed personally by the US Attorney General, so these
issues are very much alive.

Sam Kislin was involved in this investigation. He is a good friend and
associate of Giuliani, Trump's lawyer and an ex-mayor of New York. Kislin is
well known in Kiev, and I have many friends who are Sam's friends [said
Tsarev]. I learned of his progress, because some of my friends were detained in
the United States, or interrogated in Ukraine. They briefed me about this. It
appears that Burisma is just the tip of the scandal, the tip of the iceberg. If
Trump will carry on, and use what was already initiated and investigated, the
whole headquarters of the Democratic party will come down. They will not be
able to hold elections. I have no right to name names, but believe me, leading
functionaries of the Democratic party are involved.

Poroshenko was aware of that; he gave orders to declare Sam Kislin persona non
grata. Once the old man (he is over 80) flew into Kiev airport and he was not
allowed to come in; he spent the night in detention and was flown back to the
US next day. Poroshenko had been totally allied with Clinton camp.

And President Zelensky? Is he free from Clintonite Democrats' influence?

If he were, there would not be the scandal of Trump phone call. How the
Democrats learned of this call and its alleged content? The official version
says there was a CIA man, a whistle-blower, who reported to the Democrats. What
the version does not clarify, where this whistle-blower was located during the
call. I tell you, he was located in Kiev, and he was present at the
conversation, at the Ukrainian President Zelensky's side. This man was
(perhaps) a CIA asset, but he also was a close associate of George Soros, and a
Ukrainian high-ranking official. His name is Mr Alexander Daniluk. He is also
the man the investigation of Sam Kislin and of the DoJ had led to, the Finance
Minister of Ukraine at the time, the man who was responsible for the
embezzlement of three billion US taxpayer's best dollars. The DoJ issued an
order for his arrest. Naturally he is devoted to Biden personally, and to the
Dems in general. I would not trust his version of the phone call at all.

Daniluk was supposed to accompany President Zelensky on his visit to
Washington; but he was informed that there is an order for his arrest. He
remained in Kiev. And soon afterwards, the hell of the alleged leaked phone
call broke out. Zelensky administration investigated and concluded that the
leak was done by Mr Alexander Daniluk, who is known for his close relations
with George Soros and with Mr Biden. Alexander Daniluk had been fired.
(However, he did not admit his guilt and said the leak was done by his sworn
enemy, the head of president's administration office, Mr Andrey Bogdan, who
allegedly framed Daniluk.)

This is not the only case of US-connected corruption in Ukraine. There is Amos
J. Hochstein, a protege of former VP Joe Biden, who has served in the Barack
Obama administration as the Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources.
He still hangs on the Ukraine. Together with an American citizen Andrew
Favorov, the Deputy Director of Naftogas he organised very expensive "reverse
gas import" into Ukraine. In this scheme, the Russian gas is bought by
Europeans and afterwards sold to Ukraine with a wonderful margin. In reality,
gas comes from Russia directly, but payments go via Hochstein. It is much more
costly than to buy directly from Russia; Ukrainian people pay, while the margin
is collected by Hochstein and Favorov. Now they plan to import liquefied gas
from the United States, at even higher price. Again, the price will be paid by
the Ukrainians, while profits will go to Hochstein and Favorov.

In all these scams, there are people of Clinton and spooks who are fully
integrated in the Democratic Party. A former head of CIA, Robert James Woolsey,
now sits on the Board of Directors of Velta, producing Ukrainian titanium.
Woolsey is a neocon, a member of the Project for the New American Century
(PNAC), pro-Israel think-tank, and a man who relentlessly pushed for Iraq war.
A typical Democrat spook, now he gets profits from Ukrainian ore deposits.

One of the best Ukrainian corruption stories is connected with Audrius
Butkevicius, the former Minister of Defence (1996 to 2000) and a Member of the
Seimas (Parliament) of post-Soviet Lithuania. Mr AB is supposedly working for
MI6, and now is a member of the notorious Institute for Statecraft, a UK deep
state propaganda outfit involved in disinformation operations, subversion of
the democratic process and promoting Russophobia and the idea of a new cold
war. In 1991 he commanded snipers that shoot Lithuanian protesters. The kills
were ascribed to the Soviet armed forces, and the last Soviet President Mr
Gorbachev ordered speedy withdrawal of his troops from Lithuania. Mr AB became
the Minister of Defence of his independent nation. In 1997 the Honourable
Minister of Defence "had requested 300,000 USD from a senior executive of a
troubled oil company for his assistance in obtaining the discontinuance of
criminal proceedings concerning the company's vast debts", in the language of
the court judgement. He was arrested on receipt of the bribe, had been
sentenced to five years of jail, but a man with such qualifications was not
left to rot in a prison.

In 2005 he commanded the snipers who killed protesters in Kyrgyzstan, in
Georgia he repeated the feat in 2003 during the Rose Revolution. In 2014 he did
it again in Kiev, where his snipers killed around a hundred men, protesters and
police. He was brought to Kiev by Mr Turchinov, who called himself the "acting
President" and who countersigned Joe Biden's billion dollars' grant.

In October 2018 the name of Mr AB came up again. Military warehouses of
Chernigov had caught fire; allegedly thousands of shells stored for fighting
the separatists had been destroyed by fire. And it was not the first fire of
this kind: the previous one, equally huge, torched Ukrainian army warehouses in
Vinnitsa in 2017. Altogether, there were 12 huge army arsenal fires for the
last few years. Just for 2018, the damage was over $2 billion.

When Chief Military Prosecutor of Ukraine Anatoly Matios investigated the
fires, he discovered that 80% of weapons and shells in the warehouses were
missing. They weren't destroyed by fire, they weren't there in the first place.
Instead of being used to kill the Russian-speaking Ukrainians of Donetsk, the
hardware had been shipped from the port of Nikolaev to Syria, to the Islamic
rebels and to ISIS. And the man who organised this enormous operation was our
Mr AB, the old fighter for democracy on behalf of MI6, acting in cahoots with
the Minister of Defence Poltorak and Mr Turchinov, the friend of Mr Biden.
(They say Mr Matios was given $10 million for his silence).

The loss was of Ukrainian people, and of US taxpayers, while the beneficiaries
were the Deep State, which is probably just another name for the deadly mix of
spooks, media and politicians.

Hunter Biden Received $3.5M Wire Transfer From Russian Billionaire: Senate
Report

Hunter Biden received a $3.5 million wire transfer from Elena Baturina, the
richest woman in Russia and the widow of Yury Luzhkov, the former mayor of
Moscow, Senate Republicans revealed in their report on the younger Biden?s work
in Ukraine.

Baturina is referenced in the 87-page report, which was released Wednesday,
addressing her payment to Biden?s investment firm in early 2014.

?Baturina became Russia?s only female billionaire when her plastics company,
Inteko, received a series of Moscow municipal contracts while her husband was
mayor,? it said in providing background on the businesswoman.

The report described her involvement with Biden as ?a financial relationship,?
but declined to delve deeper into why the wire transfer was made.

The probe also found that Baturina sent 11 wires transfers between May and
December 2015 to a bank account belonging to BAK USA, a tech startup that filed
for bankruptcy in March 2019.

Nine of those 11 wire transfers were first sent to Rosemont Seneca Partners,
the investment firm founded by Biden and Chris Heinz, stepson of former
Secretary of State John Kerry, before being transferred to BAK USA.

All 11 transactions described the payments as ?Loan Agreement? in the details
section.

The report reads, ?[B]etween May 6, 2015 and Dec. 8, 2015, Baturina sent 11
wires in the amount of $391,968.21 to a bank account belonging to BAK USA LLC
(BAK USA). Nine of the 11 transactions, totaling $241,797.14 were sent from
Baturina?s accounts to a Rosemont Seneca Thornton bank account, which then
transferred to the money to BAK USA. The 11 transactions all listed ?Loan
Agreement? in the payment details section.

?BAK USA was a startup technology company headquartered in Buffalo, N.Y., that
produced tablet computers in cooperation with unnamed Chinese business
partners. BAK USA filed for bankruptcy on March 29, 2019, with a reported loss
of $39 million. These transactions were identified because of Baturina?s
reported criminal activity,? it continues.

The probe and report?s commission were overseen by Senate Homeland Security and
Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) and Senate Finance
Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa).

Their investigative work found that in 2015, two Obama administration officials
voiced concerns to White House officials about the possibility that the younger
Biden serving on the board of Burisma could create the appearance of a conflict
of interest, as his father, then-Vice President Joe Biden, oversaw Ukraine
policy.

The report states that the Obama White House knew that Hunter?s position
prevented ?the efficient execution of policy with respect to Ukraine,? but that
attempts by officials to raise alarms fell ?on deaf ears.?

It also alleged that Hunter ?formed significant and consistent financial
relationships? with the founder of Burisma, Mykola Zlochevsky, and that his and
his business partner Devon Archer?s firms ?made millions of dollars from that
association? while his father was vice president.

The committees also said they obtained records from the US Treasury Department
that ?show potential criminal activity relating to transactions among and
between Hunter Biden, his family, and his associates with Ukrainian, Russian,
Kazakh and Chinese nationals.?

The report adds, ?The records also note that some of these transactions are
linked to what ?appears to be an Eastern European prostitution or human
trafficking ring.??

The younger Biden had no material experience to serve on the board of the
energy and gas company, but was given a high-paying seat regardless.

Joe Biden spokesman Andrew Bates slammed the probe in a statement to The Post
on its findings.

?As the coronavirus death toll climbs and Wisconsinites struggle with
joblessness, Ron Johnson has wasted months diverting the Senate Homeland
Security & Governmental Affairs Committee away from any oversight of the
catastrophically botched federal response to the pandemic, a threat Sen.
Johnson has dismissed by saying that ?death is an unavoidable part of life.?
Why?

?To subsidize a foreign attack against the sovereignty of our elections with
taxpayer dollars ? an attack founded on a long-disproven, hardcore rightwing
conspiracy theory that hinges on Sen. Johnson himself being corrupt and that
the Senator has now explicitly stated he is attempting to exploit to bail out
Donald Trump?s re-election campaign,? he said.

firm called Rosemont Seneca Thornton, and that the payment was identified as
a “consultancy agreement.” The report did not provide any further details
about the transaction.

Neither the Senate report nor Trump have provided any evidence that the

Johnson himself being corrupt and that
the Senator has now explicitly stated he is attempting to exploit to bail out
Donald Trump?s re-election campaign,? he said.

Biden Received Funds From Top Russia Lobbyist Before Nerd Stream 2 Giveaway

President Biden and his allies raked in campaign cash from a top Russia
lobbyist in 2020, just months before his administration's decision to scrap
sanctions on a controversial firm building a Russian oil pipeline to Germany.

Richard Burt, a managing partner at McLarty Associates and a former US
ambassador to Germany during the Reagan administration, ponied up $4,000 for
Joe Biden in October 2020 and dropped another $10,000 in the lefty-aligned
political action committee Unite The County in March 2020, FEC records show.

In addition to violating Biden's own campaign pledge not to take lobbyist cash,
the money from Burt is particularly noteworthy as he is currently directly
engaged in lobbying activities for Nord Stream 2 AG.

"When Richard Burt donated to Biden Victory Fund, he failed to acknowledge that
he was a registered foreign agent and was therefore ineligible to contribute,"

A Democratic National Committee spokesman told The Post. "Because Burt also
listed a different employer than on his [Foreign Agents Registration Act]
registration, he was not flagged during our vetting process."

The DNC said they had returned the cash on Thursday after The Post's inquiry.

The Switzerland-based Nord Stream 2 - controlled by an ex-East German stasi
officer and close ally of Vladimir Putin - is currently engaging in
sanctionable activity, according to the State Department. Team Biden raised
eyebrows, however, after declining to enforce sanctions, citing US national
interests, Axios reported.

Critics worry the project will allow Russia dangerous influence over European
energy supplies and increase their overall political leverage on the continent.

To build the pipeline, Nord Stream 2 has partnered with five European energy
companies, ENGIE, OMV, Shell, Uniper and Wintershall Dea. Lobbying disclosure
forms show that Burt is currently advocating on behalf of all five.

"To protect and further the company's interests in the debate over natural gas
as an element of European energy security and advise on Russia sanctions
issues," reads Burt's disclosure for OMV under the area for "specific lobbying
issues." The other four offer similar language.

"Reading between the lines you can clearly see what that lobbying looks like,"
Anna Massoglia, an Investigative Researcher at the Center for Responsive
Politics told The Post. "While it's not evidence of anything illegal. It's just
something that is evidence of how influence works in Washington."

Burt, a longtime GOP donor, before switching sides in 2019, has long been a
fixture in D.C. foreign policy circles. "He carries an air of great knowledge
and wisdom and experience and he's impressive when you meet him," a former
Trump official who dealt with Burt told The Post.

Burt played an early role in advising the Trump campaign's foreign policy
positions, and even helped the billionaire candidate craft his first foreign
policy speech - something critics immediately leapt on as proof of untoward
Russia connections.

"The revelation of Burt's lobbying activity raises new questions about Russian
influence in Trump's campaign," blared Politico, which cited extensively Burt's
work on Nord Stream 2 - a project Trump went on to consistently oppose as
president.

"The sum total of Trump's words and actions has only encouraged Russian
meddling in our elections," said California Rep. Adam Schiff in August 2020.
"Insecure, unscrupulous and transactional, Trump is Putin's ideal American
president."

In March, 2019, Burt gave a max out $2,800 donation to Schiff shortly after the
California Congressman took the reins of the powerful House Intelligence
Committee.

Schiff has not commented publicly on the Biden Nord Stream 2 decision.

Both Burt and reps for Schiff did not respond to request for comment from The
Post.

Democrat Aligned Fusion GPS Took Money From Russia Officials

Suddenly, there isn't much talk about Russia anymore, now that it's been
revealed that Fusion GPS, the ones who gave John McCain and the media the
peepee dossier are aligned with Democrats. Not only is Fusion GPS aligned with
Democrats, they also took a bunch of money from the dirty ruskies too! But you
wouldn't know that by the once Russia addicted media.

Ryun said Thursday was a day of "massive" developments in the case, which is
moving in a direction very different from what Democrats obsessed with alleged
collusion between Russia and the Trump 2016 campaign expected. He spotlighted
Hermitage Capital CEO Bill Browder, who has been "very involved" with the
Magnitsky Act sanctions.

"Fusion GPS was used against him and was used to lobby against the Act," said
Ryun. "The reason that Senate Judiciary wanted him to come in front of them and
testify was to talk about some of Fusion GPS's behavior."

"There was some pretty staggering stuff that came out yesterday, Raheem. One
was, Lindsey Graham asked him under oath, 'Do you think that there were
Russians involved in funding Fusion's work?' His response under oath was, in
the spring and summer of 2016, they were receiving money indirectly from senior
Russian government officials," Ryun reported.

Kassam restated that Fusion GPS, a "Democrat-aligned group," has now "admitted
to receiving money from the Russians."

"The thing that I want people to understand is, Fusion GPS calls itself an oppo
research firm. They are a disinformation firm. Much of what they do is not
based in reality or fact. They are hired guns to destroy the opponents of those
that are paying Fusion money," Ryun said.

"The second thing that I thought was staggering was when Chuck Grassley asked
him, 'Do you think that reporters were being paid money to push Fusion's
dossier and other lines of attack against them, regarding the Magnitsky Act?'"
Ryun continued. "And he responded and said, 'I am convinced that there are, in
fact.' He said, 'There is one journalist that I am almost 100 percent convinced
was receiving money because he was acting so far outside the bounds of
journalistic ethics.'"

Top Democratic Lobbyist Bundlers Tied To Russian Interests

Lobbyists Hauled In Millions For Clinton's Failed Presidential Campaign,
Thousands For Dem Leaders

A number of top Democratic lobbyist bundlers, who together pulled in millions
of dollars for Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign and donated generously
to Democratic leaders, personally represent or work at firms that have
represented Russian interests in recent years, according to a review of foreign
agent registration filings.

Several powerful lobbyists who have pushed millions of dollars into Democratic
coffers have ties to foreign banks and governments.

Emanuel "Mike" Manatos, the senior vice president of Manatos & Manatos, a D.C.-
based government relations firm, bundled tens of thousands for Clinton's
campaign.

"Mike Manatos has orchestrated efforts that set numerous records in the
policymaking process of the U.S. Senate, House of Representatives and the
Executive Branch as he moved clients' issues forward," the company's website
states. "This record of success for clients' issues has attracted some of the
world's and America's leading individuals and organizations to ask Manatos &
Manatos to oversee the handling of their issues in Washington, D.C."

One of those clients was the VTB Group, a Russian financial group that includes
the VTB Bank-a large financial institution that is majority-owned by the
Russian government.

The Foreign Agents Registration Act requires individuals who act as agents for
foreign principals "in a political or quasi-political capacity" to provide
periodic updates to the Justice Department on the work and services they
perform. Foreign agents must submit receipts and disbursements in relation to
the work they perform for foreign entities.

Manatos filed paperwork on May 11, 2016 to work on behalf of the VTB Group, a
"global provider of financial services, comprised of over 20 financial
institutions and financial companies operating across all key areas of the
financial markets," the registration reads.

The Russian government is the majority shareholder of the VTB Group,
controlling 60.9 percent of voting shares. The group received a $2.6 billion
bailout from the Russian government in 2014-15, the registration notes.

Manatos was tapped by the group to lobby Congress and the Obama administration
on sanctions imposed on Russian-affiliated banks.

According to a "privileged and confidential" document attached to the
registration, the firm receives $17,500 per month and a $35,000 security
retainer fee for its services.

Manatos bundled more than $40,000 in lobbyist contributions for Clinton's
campaign. He and brother Andy Manatos, the second partner at the firm, have
donated tens of thousands to Democratic politicians, according to data from the
Center for Responsive Politics.

Tony Podesta, owner of the powerful D.C.-based Podesta Group lobbying shop,
works on behalf of Sberbank CIB USA, Inc., a subsidiary of Russia's largest
bank that is majority-owned by the government. Tony is the brother of John
Podesta, the former chairman of Clinton's campaign.

A lobbying report filed with Congress showed that Sberbank paid Podesta $20,000
in the first quarter of 2016 to "clarify the scope of sanctions imposed by
Executive Order 13660," signed by President Obama in March 2014 to block
"property of certain persons contributing to the situation in Ukraine." Podesta
also was hired to explore possible sanctions relief.

The Security Services of Ukraine accused Sberbank of transferring funds to pro-
Russia "terrorists" fighting for Soviet occupation in April 2014, a charge the
bank denied.

Podesta was paid $170,000 by Sberbank for his services throughout 2016,
disclosure forms show. Podesta bundled at least $260,000 for Clinton's campaign
and has given hundreds of thousands more to prominent Democratic lawmakers,
PACs, and committees.

Capitol Counsel, another D.C.-based lobbying firm, submitted a proposal to the
Russian Direct Investment Fund, a $10 billion fund established by the Russian
government, on Sep. 12, 2014 to represent the group in the United States. The
letter was addressed to Kirill Dmitriev, the investment fund's chief executive
officer.

"RDIF acts as co-investor or partner, always as a minority stakeholder, with
leading international businesses and sovereign wealth funds. Co-investors
perform joint due diligence with RDIF in evaluating opportunities and make
independent investment decisions," the proposal states. "Recent press articles
have significantly misstated the role and function of RDIF. To help address
this concern, Capitol Counsel proposes to assist RDIF in correcting the press
reports by working with US investors and the international investment community
to educate the Administration and major policy makers as to the role of RDIF
and its relationship with US business and investors."

Capitol Counsel proposed a monthly retainer of $45,000 for a minimum of two
months as compensation.

The lobbying group submitted paperwork to FARA on October 31, 2014 to represent
the Russian Direct Investment Fund. The group would "educate and explain to
U.S. Department of Treasury and U.S. policy-makers RDIF's role and relationship
with the United States partners and investors" and have communication with
Treasury officials, policy-makers on Capitol Hill, and with Senate and House
Committees of jurisdiction to "gather information regarding U.S. sanctions on
Russian entities."

David Jones and Richard Sullivan, partners at Capitol Counsel, bundled more
than $1.3 million for Clinton's campaign. The partners have donated generously
to liberal politicians and groups.

None of the lobbyists in this story returned requests for comment by press
time.

Members of Congress Have Financial Stake In Russian Sanctions

WASHINGTON -- As members of Congress and the Obama administration scramble to
respond to the increasing threat posed by the Russian military in Ukraine,
economic sanctions are emerging as the United States' preferred method of
exercising its leverage.

Late Monday, the Senate moved ahead on approving President Barack Obama's
request to enact broad penalties in the future against Russian officials and
businesspeople who are engaged in what the Treasury Department deems
corruption, bribery or misuse of public funds. The House has passed a similar
measure and is considering further steps in legislation scheduled for a markup
Tuesday in the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

Florida Democratic Rep. Alan Grayson, another Foreign Affairs Committee member,
holds a significant interest in Lukoil, having reported owning between $500,000
and $1 million in Lukoil stock in 2012, the most recent year for which full
disclosure reports are available. This past January, Grayson reported selling
between $250,001 and $500,000 of the stock, but his office would not discuss
how much he still owns. Like McCaul, Grayson regularly appears on the list of
the wealthiest members of Congress.

Among the senators who backed further sanctions on Monday was another wealthy
member, North Carolina Democrat Sen. Kay Hagan, whose net worth in 2013 was
reported to be at least $8 million. Hagan owns between $1,001 and $15,000 worth
of stock in Mobile Telesystems, the Russian cell phone behemoth. The senator's
office did not immediately answer questions from HuffPost about whether she
would be willing to sell the stock, but told HuffPost they were looking into
the matter.

Hagan's investment in a cell phone company isn't nearly as risky, however, as
Kentucky Republican Rep. Hal Rogers' investment in the Russian state-controlled
oil company Gazprom. According to his disclosure reports, the powerful chairman
of the House Appropriations Committee has bought and sold Gazprom stock at
least twice during the past two years. As Russia's largest and most visible
company, Gazprom is at a particularly high risk for any increased sanctions.

Of the six members of Congress with Russian investments, freshman Democratic
Rep. Lois Frankel (Fla.) has the most diversified Russian portfolio, with
holdings in six different Russian companies, according to her 2012 financial
disclosures, submitted in May of last year. According to the forms, Frankel
owns shares of Gazprom, Lukoil, Mobile Telesystems, Yandex, Sberbank Russia and
MMC Norilsk Nikel, a Russian mining conglomerate, all through a series of
Morgan Stanley IRA funds. Frankel is also a member of the Foreign Affairs
Committee. Her office did not respond to questions about her investment plans,
or her position on any further U.S. sanctions against Russia.

Part of the reason that so many members of Congress did not comment on their
Russian investments may be that they did not make the investment decisions
themselves. In 2012, Renacci owned more than $90,000 worth of stock in two
Russian companies, Mobile Telesystems and Sberbank Russia. In July of last
year, records show that some of Renacci's Sberbank stock was sold, but a
spokesman for Renacci told HuffPost the congressman had no part in the decision
to buy or sell.

"Congressman Renacci's holdings are managed by financial advisers with the
authority to buy and sell independently," a Renacci spokesman told HuffPost,
adding that "[Renacci] does not manage his own holdings." The spokesman noted
that Renacci supports tougher sanctions on Russia.

Yet even as Renacci claims to be a hands-off investor, House Majority Leader
Eric Cantor (R-Va.) made it clear in a memo sent out late last week that he
expects the GOP-controlled House to do more to push back against powerful
Russian business interests. "If Mr. Putin's ambitions are to be checked, we
must take more steps to put pressure on Russia," Cantor said in the memo, which
was obtained by HuffPost. "Thus I expect the House to move to impose greater
costs on Mr. Putin and the oligarchs from Russia."

The only obstacle in the way of tougher sanctions on Tuesday morning was a
disagreement between the House and Senate over the International Monetary Fund,
and how U.S. funding should be used there. Negotiations between the two
chambers are ongoing.

In the coming months, however, members of Congress with investments in Russian
companies could experience two major downsides. The first risk is that they
will lose money -- Russian stock markets tumbled last week on investor fears of
further sanctions.

=====

Democratic Ties To Russia Are Ample, And Often Ethically Dubious

Nearly every day, it seems, analysts and reporters reveal new ties between
American political figures and Russia or its leader, Vladimir Putin, and his
political cronies.

The news is delivered in breathless tones with an air of suspicion.

There seems to be some confusion, because the following things are legal
activities for Americans to do: Living in Russia, visiting Russia, talking to
Russians, doing business in Russia and with Russians, consulting for Russia,
advising Russia, having "ties" to Russia, lobbying for Russia, meeting with
Russian leaders, "refusing to criticize Putin," meeting with Russians connected
to Putin, discussing politics with Russians, discussing U.S. policy and
sanctions with Russians, consulting for the Russian government on political
matters.

It's true that certain conditions could make these activities illegal. For
example, if an American works as a paid lobbyist for Russia but fails to
register as a foreign agent, that violates U.S. law. If an American meets with
a Russian spy for the purposes of committing a crime, that's illegal, too.

But most of what's being reported in sinister overtones is not only perfectly
legal; thousands of Americans are doing much the same every day. There's room
for disagreement as to whether these things should be legal, but the fact is
that - today - they are. Even "colluding" with Russia, or any country, isn't
necessarily illegal. It depends on the facts.

Without yet knowing the findings of special counsel Robert Mueller's
investigation into alleged Trump-Russia collusion, we have only the public
evidence to date.

Former Trump National Security Adviser Michael Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to
the FBI about what appears to have been a legal conversation he had with the
Russian ambassador to the U.S.

Two Trump associates, Paul Manafort and Rick Gates, have been indicted by a
grand jury for allegedly failing to report their lobbying work and avoiding
paying taxes on its multimillion-dollar income. (It wasn't Russia, it was
Ukraine; and it was prior to their work on the Trump campaign, but close
enough.)

In the absence of any public evidence implicating President Trump in illegal
activities, much has been written about his and his associates' "ties" to
Russia, as if that is itself evidence of some sort of crime.

One such article in Time is entitled, "Donald Trump's Many, Many, Many, Many
Ties to Russia." Three "many's" obviously weren't enough to convey the true
depth of the "ties." It took four.

It's less easy to find comprehensive accounts denoting the Russian ties that
some of Trump's detractors have.

Here are just a few examples:

The top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, Mark Warner (D-Va.), had
extensive contact with a lobbyist for a Russian oligarch to help connect with
the author of the anti-Trump "dossier." Warner reportedly texted at the time
that he didn't wish to "leave a paper trail." Warner allegedly waited six
months before disclosing the contacts to the committee, which is investigating
Russia matters.

The anti-Trump "dossier" that the FBI secretly used to justify wiretaps on a
Trump adviser was compiled by a man at a political opposition research firm,
Fusion GPS, who relied on and quoted Russian sources who are close to President
Putin.

According to anonymous intel officials quoted in the New York Times, U.S.
intelligence officials made a deal with Russians who offered unverified,
compromising material on Trump.

A Washington lobbying/consulting firm, the Podesta Group, founded by Obama
adviser and Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta and his brother,
lobbied for Russia's largest bank, owned by the government (or, as you like,
President Putin). John's brother, Tony, also lobbied for Ukrainian interests
(reportedly in partnership with Trump associates Manafort and Gates). John
Podesta left the firm years ago; Tony stepped down last November amid
controversy over the lobbying. He has not been charged with any crimes.

The Podesta Group also represented Russia-owned Uranium One, which received
approval from a federal oversight board that included the State Department
under Hillary Clinton to buy about one-fifth of the U.S. production capacity of
uranium, a key material for making nuclear weapons.

Uranium One interests reportedly contributed $145 million to Bill and Hillary
Clinton's charitable foundation.

Former Sens. John Breaux (D-La.) and Trent Lott (R-Miss.) lobbied for Russia's
banking giant, Gazprombank, owned by Putin's government.

The lead Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, Adam Schiff (D-Calif.),
engaged with a Russian caller posing as a Ukrainian contact offering Russian
blackmail material against President Trump. Afterward, Schiff made arrangements
for his staff to try to collect the material. It turns out the caller was a
Russian radio-host spoofer. Schiff has said he was not really fooled by the
call.

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Sen. John
McCain (R-Ariz.) also reportedly engaged in conversations with Russian
comedians who posed as Ukrainian officials.

McCain secretly delivered to the FBI a copy of the anti-Trump "dossier"
opposition research, which quoted Russian sources.

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the Hillary Clinton campaign funded
the anti-Trump "dossier" that relied on Russian sources, who were close to
Kremlin officials.

None of the above-mentioned "Russian ties" are illegal on their face, although,
in some instances, there could be conditions that make them illegal. Other than
Gates, Manafort and Flynn, nobody mentioned has been accused of a crime.

Sharyl Attkisson (@SharylAttkisson) is an Emmy-award winning investigative
journalist, author of The New York Times bestsellers "The Smear" and
"Stonewalled," and host of Sinclair's Sunday TV program "Full Measure."

Russia Scandal Also May Touch Democrats

'Progressives' Condemn Republicans For Russian Links While Ignoring Their Own

Washington and the national media are all about double standards. It should
come as no surprise to anyone that the sort of Russian "ties" used to condemn
Republicans as possible agents of Moscow are dismissed as irrelevant when
Democrats are revealed to have deeper, stronger and far more remunerative
connections to Russian banks, oligarchs and institutions than any Republican
currently being banished to the outer darkness by Democratic "progressives."

During the 2016 campaign, it was revealed that Hillary Clinton's foundation had
taken more than $100 million in contributions from a firm heavily backed by
Moscow seeking control of as much as 20 percent of this country's uranium
reserves, that the deal required a sign-off from the State Department headed at
the time by Mrs. Clinton, and that her husband had traveled to Russia,
according The New York Times, given a speech and received a half-million-dollar
honorarium from the Moscow bank funding the effort. When conservatives
expressed concerns about all this, suggesting that perhaps there had been
something resembling a "quid pro quo" involved, liberals were outraged, fact
checkers leaped into action and the very suspicion was roundly condemned as
wild and irresponsible conspiracy-mongering by out-of-control wing nuts.

We were told that there was no reason to be suspicious because Mrs. Clinton was
only one of several Obama administration officials who had to give permission
for the deal; she didn't personally attend the crucial meeting, but instead
sent one of her lower-level State Department officials and that, besides, the
timing was wrong. Many of the contributions came in before an actual request
for approval was tendered and we all therefore had to assume the contributions
were made to promote the wonderful work of the Clinton Foundation rather than
to buy or even seek favorable consideration from the woman who was then in a
position to torpedo the company's plans.

Later, when emails released by WikiLeaks suggested that Mrs. Clinton's campaign
chairman, John Podesta, had received tens of thousands of shares of stock while
sitting on the board of a company heavily dependent on Russian financing and
didn't list all this on his disclosure forms when he went into the Obama White
House, we were assured by one and all that he had divested himself of any
interest in the Russian-financed firm by leaving its board and turning his
shares over to his "adult children" in an arm's-length transaction.

It has since turned out, thanks to investigative work by the Daily Caller and
others that Mr. Podesta paid to have Leonidio Holdings, the "independent" firm
to which he transferred his stock, set up its business address in his
daughter's home and that in hiding the details of the transactions involved, he
may well have violated the spirit and letter of the government's disclosure
laws. Whether anyone does anything about all this is doubtful, but contrast Mr.
Podesta's claim that he had satisfied White House ethics requirements by
transferring the stock to his "adult children" with the outcry over the fact
that President Trump's adult children will be running his businesses while he
serves as president.

It is just as clear that John Podesta and his adult children are not the only
members of this influential Democratic family to have profited from their
Moscow connections. John's brother Tony runs the Podesta Group, which is what
the media like to describe as a "high-powered and well-connected Washington
lobbying firm." The Podesta Group during the 2016 campaign received $170,000
from Russia's largest bank to lobby against the sanctions imposed on Russia by
the Obama administration and Congress; the very sanctions Mr. Trump's first
national security adviser was fired for "mentioning" to Russian Ambassador
Sergey Kislyak before he entered the government.

Republicans associated with Mr. Trump, like Attorney General Jeff Sessions,
find themselves in hot water with the media and the Washington establishment
for running into the Russian ambassador at public meetings, but Democrats from
Mrs. Clinton, her husband, campaign manager and friends raise nary an eyebrow
for feathering their already-opulent nests with boatloads of rubles from
Russian oligarchs, banks and investors.

All of this was known before Election Day, but the media accepted the line from
political strategists like Mr. Podesta who. while benefiting from his Russian
ties, that Republicans were somehow being influenced by Moscow. Congress can do
much to end the double standard by calling the recipients of all this Russian
largesse to explain just what they did or were expected to do in return for it.

No One Mentions That The Russian Trail Leads To Democratic Lobbyists

K Street lobbyists are the symbol of Washington influence-peddling as they push
government for favors, subsidies, exemptions, and other special treatment for
their clients. Their customers include, in addition to domestic clients,
foreign governments, oligarchs, fugitive speculators, and a rogue's gallery of
questionable figures. Washington lobbyists trade on their access to power. Many
are former administration officials or members of Congress. If Trump fulfills
his promise to "drain the swamp," these influence peddlers would have nothing
to sell. They are under attack.

The media has focused not on K Street but on the Russian ties of President
Donald Trump's associates. They list the reprehensible Kremlin-associated
figures for whom members of his inner circle worked, the most notorious being
Viktor Yanukovich, the deposed president of Ukraine, and fugitive oligarch,
Dymtro Firtash. But both of these "repulsive" figures were also advised by
Democratic top dogs, who likely earned large multiples of what the "small fry"
Trump associates took home.

In pushing its Manchurian-candidate-Trump narrative, the media fail to mention
the much deeper ties of Democratic lobbyists to Russia. Don't worry, the media
seems to say: Even though they are representing Russia, the lobbyists are good
upstanding citizens, not like the Trump people. They can be trusted with such
delicate matters.

The media targeted former Trump campaign manager, Paul Manafort, for consulting
for deposed Ukrainian president's (Yanukovich's) Party of the Regions. He also
worked for billionaire oligarch, Firtash, who stands accused of skimming
billions in the Ukraine gas trade in league with Russian oligarchs. The media
also singled out Trump's former national security advisor, General Michael
Flynn, for attending a dinner with Putin and appearing on Russia's foreign
propaganda network RT. Trump's own Russian ties were the subject of intense
media coverage of an unverified opposition-research report purportedly prepared
by an ex-British spy, who remains in hiding. It seems no enterprising reporter
has tried to find him.

The media's focus on Trump's Russian connections ignores the much more
extensive and lucrative business relationships of top Democrats with Kremlin-
associated oligarchs and companies. Thanks to the Panama Papers, we know that
the Podesta Group (founded by John Podesta's brother, Tony) lobbied for
Russia's largest bank, Sberbank. "Sberbank is the Kremlin, they don't do
anything major without Putin's go-ahead, and they don't tell him 'no' either,"
explained a retired senior U.S. intelligence official. According to a Reuters
report, Tony Podesta was "among the high-profile lobbyists registered to
represent organizations backing Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich." Among
these was the European Center, which paid Podesta $900,000 for his lobbying.

That's not all: The busy Podesta Group also represented Uranium One, a uranium
company acquired by the Russian government which received approval from Hillary
Clinton's State Department to mine for uranium in the U.S. and gave Russia
twenty percent control of US uranium. The New York Times reported Uranium One's
chairman, Frank Guistra, made significant donations to the Clinton Foundation,
and Bill Clinton was paid $500,000 for one speech from a Russian investment
bank that has "links to the Kremlin that was promoting Uranium One stock."
Notably, Frank Giustra, the Clinton Foundation's largest and most controversial
donor, does not appear anywhere in Clinton's "non-private" emails. It is
possible that the emails of such key donors were automatically scrubbed to
protect the Clinton Foundation.

Let's not leave out fugitive Ukrainian oligarch, Dymtro Firtash. He is
represented by Democratic heavyweight lawyer, Lanny Davis, who accused Trump of
"inviting Putin to commit espionage" (Trump's quip: If Putin has Hillary's
emails, release them) but denies all wrongdoing by Hillary.

That's still not all: Rep. John Conyers (D., Mich.) read Kremlin propaganda
into the Congressional Record, referring to Ukrainian militia as "repulsive Neo
Nazis" in denying Ukrainian forces ManPad weapons. Conyers floor speech was
surely a notable success of some Kremlin lobbyist.

Lobbying for Russia is a bi-partisan activity. Gazprombank GPB, a subsidiary of
Russia's third largest bank, Gazprombank, is represented by former Sen. John
Breaux, (D., La.), and former Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (R., Miss.), as
main lobbyists on "banking laws and regulations, including applicable
sanctions." The Breaux-Lott client is currently in the Treasury Department list
of Russian firms prohibited from debt financing with U.S. banks.

In his February 16 press conference, President Trump declared in response to
the intensifying media drumbeat on his Russian connections: "I haven't done
anything for Russia." K-Street lobbyists, on the other hand, have done a lot to
help Russia. They greased the skids for a strategic deal (that required the
Secretary of State's approval) that multiplied the Kremlin's command of world
uranium supplies. They likely prevented the shipment of strategic weapons
needed by Ukraine to repulse well-armed pro-Russian forces. A fugitive
billionaire who robbed the Ukrainian people of billions is represented by one
of the establishment's most connected lawyers.

Gazprombank GPB hired Breux and Lott to gain repeal of sanctions. That's
perfectly fine in Washington; they are playing according established "swamp
rules" in their tailored suits and fine D.C. restaurants. General Flynn lost
his job when the subject of sanctions was mentioned by the Russian ambassador
in their telephone conversation, but that's the way the media and Washington
play.

No wonder that Trump's' "drain the swamp" and anti-media messages resonate so
well with mainstream America.
