Discussion:
America's Two Largest "Blue", Or Democrat States, California And New York Are In Deep Financial Holes

Americans have been living beyond their means. And this cannot be blamed on
Bush but on the American civilian population itself which has become to a
large extent, decadent, lazy, irresponsible, greedy and far too reliant on
government. Well, the chickens have come home to roost in NY state and
California. The latter
state, which has a GDP slightly higher than Canada's has a deficit for this
fiscal year of $12 billion. How would the Canadian media and the public be
reacting if
the conservative federal government of P.M. Stephen Harper, which is
fighting an expensive war in Afghanistan, had a deficit like California's?
BTW California does have a very moderate GOP governor but he is just a
figurehead as California has what is known as a "weak governor" system. The
real power is held by the Assembly which is dominated by radical Democrats
and has been for decades. Economist Arthur Laffer, the original proponent of
Reagonomics in the 1980s, appearing on Fox News, stated that he has moved to
Kansas to escape California's taxes. This would suggest that thousands of
rich individuals and successful corporations have, or will, be acting
similarly.

NY state, which has a heavily Democrat and corrupt state government is in
dire straits just like California with a current fiscal deficit of $11
billion. For quite some time most of upstate NY has been an economic basket
case, made that way to a large degree by onerous taxation. NYC had been
thriving up until the recent financial collapse and now real estate values
are falling through the floor as taxes are again going up. I am not sure
what this decaying city's deficit is but it must be
staggering.

However all the news is not bad. Help is on the way. America has a now a
black Democrat president/elect, Barack Obama. With his inspiring speeches
offering hope and change, he will soon make all things right again, helped
by a Congress, overwhelmingly Democrat, with such stellar leaders and
luminaries as Nancy Pelosi, Barney (the faggot) Frank, Charley Rangel, Harry
Reid etc.

If I said that Americans are upset because they can't have what they think they
are entitled to like big fancy cars..and fancy homes..would I be out
of line?
I mean sure this economy thing is bad but Americans are notorious for
short attention spans..as soon as things improve just a
little..they'll be
bad to their bad habits once again..Living beyond their means just
like
the US government! Is Nancy Pelosi..Ted Kennedy..Reid..Frank and
JFKerry
really what this country needs and wants..if that is so..why isn't
Kerry waiting
to be inaugurated for his 2nd term!! I can't believe those people are
the
change we've been waiting for! And Emanuel..don't people know he
worked for President Bill Clinton when he was president?!! Why do we
get these retreads in the guise of change?

Well, New York State has never worried about deficits, since
there solution to everything has has always been
Washington will bail us out, if Connecticut doesn't.

It's more than staggering, it's downright ludicrous. Since it's all
the
money that GM owes to US Steel.

Some of us believe the central problem behind all these budget deficits
is tax cuts. The tax cut frenzy began in California but it swept the
nation under Reagan. Now that our national debt is $10.5 trillion one
would think (or know by now) that we've been under taxed for decades and
all statements about tax cuts being good for the economy were a hoax
perpetrated on dumb people by dumb people.

Put simply, if you want more military spending, pay for it. If you want
war, fine, pay for it. If don't want to pay for it, don't support
military spending or wars. It's really very simple.
